According to recent reports, the Colombian singer Shakira has been named “Humanitarian of the Year” by the People en Espanol Magazine for her work concerning international healthcare. The award-winning singer-songwriter was honored because of her charity work with her foundation Pies Descalzos and Latin America in Solidarity. It seems Shakira was very motivated to reach out for success after her family was in deep problems when she was seven years old - an experience from which she learned to have compassion for the needy.

We had a comfortable life and then one day I was shown something else. From that day on, I became obsessed to vindicate my family, my family’s economic situation, and to one day help those kids that I saw on the streets.

From that moment on, I was obsessed with achieving success to get my family back on its feet, to restore my family’s economic position, but I was also obsessed with someday doing something for kids like the ones who made such a huge impact on my young mind.

The pop Celebrity Shakira was spotted enjoying a beautiful day in Paris (July 16) with Columbian political figure Ingrid Betancourt and her son Lorenzo. The Grammy-winning singer singer was wearing a black ensemble as she made her way out of the Hotel Meurice on her way visit more of the most romantic city in the world, Paris. We don’t see Shakira out that much which means there’s a real friendship between her and Ingrid Betancourt.

In other Celebrity news, Shakira has recently  signed a 10 year contract with LiveNation and the deal will encompass tours, recordings, sponsorship, and merchandise throughout the world

The sexy singer Shakira was among celebrities who performed over two weekends in Madrid, Spain. The Pop singer took the stage to perform joining other celebrities who did the same thing including Amy Winehouse, The Police, Neil Young, Jamiroquai, Tokio Hotel, the Stereophonics and Suzanne Vega.

Rock legends Bob Dylan and Lenny Kravitz closed out Spain’s first ever Rock in Rio event as organizers revealed plans to expand the festival to Italy, Morocco and China as well as return to Brazil.

This is a new thing for the Spanish people. It’s the first time they’ve had a rock festival with a theme park, and so we didn’t know if people would understand that they could come with families and children, but they did come.

The New York Post reported recently that Shakira is in talks with concert promoter Live Nation and is expected to sign a $70 million deal with Live Nation before the end of the year. The pop Celebrity’s contract will include deals for touring, merchandising and recording, joining an elite league of music heavyweights including Madonna, Jay-Z and U2. However, there is no confirmation yet as the spokesman for Live Nation and Shakira declined to comment on the deal.

The pop Celebrity Shakira teamed with Alejandro Sanz and other Latin American singers to raise awareness about childhood poverty in Latin America. Two benefit concerts dedicated to the cause took place on Saturday in Mexico City and Buenos Aires. Shakira and Sanz performed in Buenos Aires being followed by other Latin American Celebrities like Gustavo Cerati, Juan Luis Guerra, Juanes, MANA, Miguel Bose, and Ricky Martin. Continue reading →
