According to the news, rapper Lil’ Kim - who left prison last month - is being sued for plagiarism by a Jamaican reggae singer Tanya Stephens who claims Lil’ copied her lyrics for her last album. More exactly the reggae singer is suing the hip-hop star for taking a song for 2005 release The Naked Truth, saying that lyrics of Kim’s track Durty are almost exactly like her song Mi And Mi God, recorded in Jamaica and released in 1997. It seems Kim even adopts a West Indian accent for the song. The hip-hop star Lil’ Kim, real name Kimberly Jones, has made in past no secret of her admiration for Tanya Stephens’ work. The suit was filed in Manhattan federal court last week and the singer is claiming rights to the song, as well as all past and future royalties, reports the New York Post.
