
Nominees for the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards were announced yesterday, just a day before its 25th anniversary. Colombian cutie Shakira and California rockers the Red Hot Chili Peppers got seven nominations including one each for Video of the Year while the diva Madonna, Pete Wentz’ prodigies Panic! At The Disco and pop princess Christina Aguilera got 4 nominations. Honourable mentions went to Chris Brown, AFI and Gnarls Barkley, taking three nods and Kanye West and Rihanna, who each got two nominations.
Performers set to take the stage of the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards ceremony will include Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, The Killers, T.I., Ludacris and Panic! At The Disco. The Raconteurs have also been tapped to provide the soundtrack for the evening. No host or presenters have been named, and more performers are expected to be announced shortly.
