Celebrity Plastic Surgery – Marketing Manufactured Beauty

It can sometimes be almost perplexing how good some celebrities seem to look on a regular basis. Of course, part of this is simply because natural beauty is one reason that many of them have become celebrities to begin with; as far as movies and television are concerned, beauty is marketable, meaning that most (or at least many) people who become famous are naturally good looking. However, it is also true that many of our most beautiful and recognizable celebrities have gone to great lengths to look as good as they do. In many cases, this includes undergoing plastic surgery. Here are a few notable celebrity surgeries (or alleged surgeries):

• Recently, much has been made of Kate Hudson’s alleged breast implant surgery. Miss Hudson has been celebrated for most of her career as an extremely beautiful woman with a lot of natural charm. In fact, she has even been specifically commended for being a Hollywood beauty without large breasts… however, it appears that she recently had a subtle breast surgery that slightly enlarged her breasts. This decision on her part has been both criticized and praised.

• Most people are familiar with the extensive and obvious plastic surgeries that Michael Jackson underwent over the course of his all-too-brief adult life. Because there were so many of them, it would be tedious to go into them in detail. However, Jackson is still an interesting example, just in terms of demonstrating how dramatically a person’s appearance can be altered by plastic surgery.

• Many have speculated that Angelina Jolie – believed by many to be one of, if not the most beautiful women in the world – at one point had a small surgery performed on her nose, in order to make it more narrow and shapely. Miss Jolie has at times denied these reports, and pictures are far from conclusive, seeing as she never had a noticeably large nose, and she has always been beautiful. However, it is interesting to note that even the very most celebrated Hollywood beauties have been mentioned with regard to plastic surgery.

If you idolize your favorite celebrities, or use them as standards with regard to appearances, it is important to note just how many of them have, at least allegedly, had surgeries over the years. While Hollywood is of course full of natural beauties, there is also no denying that many actors and actresses have had some work done on their faces and bodies. Of course, it is up to you to decide if you too are interested in plastic surgery procedures; however, do not always assume that our standards of beauty are entirely natural.
