As a five-time Olympic bobsledder, Prince Albert II of Monaco probably ranks as the most successful royal force in sports in recent years. And now another Olympian will join Monaco’s royal lineage, with Albert getting engaged to Charlene Wittstock.
The willowy Wittstock was an Olympic swimmer for South Africa in 2000. She didn’t medal at the Games, but she was a gold medalist at the 1999 All Africa Games, in the 100-meter freestyle.
Wittstock’s countenance no doubt will draw comparisons to Monaco’s last crown princess, the late American movie star Grace Kelly, who was Albert’s mother.
No wedding date has been set for Albert, 52, and Wittswtock, 32, according to the AP.
