TriBeCa Festival Announces Prizewinners

“When We Leave,” the German director Feo Aladag’s drama about a woman’s flight to her family in Berlin from her abusive husband in Istanbul, won the Founders Award for best narrative feature at the Tribeca Film Festival, and its star Sibel Kekilli, above, won for best actress in a narrative feature, the festival’s organizers said on Thursday. Dana Adam Shapiro’s feature “Monogamy,” about a Brooklyn couple on the verge of marriage, was named best New York narrative, and the French director Kim Chapiron was named best new narrative filmmaker for the feature “Dog Pound,” about teenagers in a youth correctional center in Montana. Other award winners included Eric Elmosnino, for his portrayal of the French singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg in the film “Gainsbourg, Je t’Aime … Moi Non Plus” by Joann Sfar, and Alexandra Codina’s nonfiction film “Monica & David,” about a couple with Down syndrome, which was named best documentary feature.
