Brooke Mueller and Charlie Sheen’s marriage has hit another snag: The couple are living in separate homes, multiple sources tell PEOPLE.
“Sometimes when couples are trying to work things out, it’s better if they don’t reside under the same roof,” says Sheen’s rep. “There are no plans for either party to end their marriage.”
A source says Mueller, who recently completed a 90-day rehab program, “needs to take a breather from Charlie. She is basically taking a break from the marriage. ”
The couple’s twin sons, Bob and Max, are spending time with both parents. Mark Burg, Sheen’s close friend and executive producer on Two and a Half Men, says, “Charlie is at home with the boys and their nanny.”
After theChristmas Day incident in Aspen, Colo., in which Sheen, 44, reportedly threatened his wife and was arrested on domestic violence charges, the couple tried to hold the marriage together for the sake of their kids, however, it has been a rocky road. Both Sheen and Mueller have spent time in rehab programs. While she went through inpatient and outpatient treatment, Sheen sought help as “a preventative measure” during a stressful time.
