Sarah Palin kicks off her “Real American Stories” series Thursday night at 10 on the Fox News Channel.
Yes, April Fools’ Day, a fact that will get the blogosphere cranking overtime.
The show will present stories about people who have overcome adversity and more. The opener will about a Marine Medal of Honor recipient who died saving his comrades and a stockbroker who donates much of his fortune so underprivileged kids can go to college. There will also be appearances by Toby Keith, LL Cool J and former GE chairman Jack Welch.
Word of the debut date comes as the network notched the most-watched quarter in its 14-year history, averaging 1.3 million viewers on a 24-hour basis and 2.32 in prime time.
Palin will also soon be getting another series focusing on her beloved Alaska, which will be featured on TLC.
“Sarah Palin’s Alaska” will be produced by Mark Burnett, the force behind “Survivor” and “Celebrity Apprentice,” and is being described as being about Palin and her home state.
The cost for Discovery Networks is estimated at less than $1 million per episode for the new series, despite initial reports that the price tag would be much higher.
Since production hasn’t yet begun on the show, an airdate hasn’t been set.
