Last week, Demi Moore averted the suicide of one of her fans. This weekend, in a rather civilized Twitter feud, she single-handedly took on that hotsy-totsy Kim Kardashian for “glorifying pimp culture.”
Now, there are many things for which one could take Kim K. to task, so kudos to Demi for jumping in somewhere, anywhere.
Here’s what happened: Kardashian snapped a photo of herself hanging out with Serena Williams, Kelly Rowland and La La Vasquez (a cast-off MTV VJ) and posted it to Twitpic with the captioned it “Big pimpin…..
” Then, Demi — who is possessed of much spare time and goes by the Twitter handle @MrsKutcher — immediately fired off a few tweets to Kardashian explaining that “pimps” are slave owners and using a word like “pimpin” glorifies pimp culture. Kardashian then explained that “Big pimpin’” is the title of a Jay-Z song and, we are to infer, it is therefore not her fault that such an evil word has been appropriated by urban slang. To which Moore backed off, but not before letting us all know that she is not afraid to sacrifice a few Jay-Z songs for the greater good:
“2 create change U have 2 be willing 2 take a risk and be willing 2 provoke thought & conversation.”
And not be afraid 2 liberally pepper one’s written word with the number 2. Cuz you can’t use 2 many 2 make your point. But “Thought and conversation?” With Kim Kardashian? Surely you jest, MrsKutcher.
