Levi Johnston, the man who would be Sarah Palin‘s son-in-law, has been ordered to pay about $18,500 in back child support dating to son Tripp’s birth in December 2008, TMZ.com reports.
Johnston and Bristol Palin presented a united front when news of her pregnancy broke just before Palin, then the governor of Alaska, accepted the Republican nomination for vice-president, but the young couple split up not long after Tripp’s birth. The Palins say that the hockey playing high school dropout has only contributed about $4,400 since the baby was born.
Johnston has used his notoriety to snag a commercial and a photo spread in Playgirl (though he was paid about $25,000, he kept his, um, hockey stick under wraps). He also ripped Palin to whomever would listen. And that list apparently includes Vanity Fair, CNN, Entertainment Tonight, Star, The National Enquirer and The Insider — all those media outlets were included in a subpoena for financial records requested by Palin’s lawyer, although Johnston’s camp contends he wasn’t paid for all of those appearances, E! Online reports.
