On Thursday night (January 14), Lady Gaga was forced to cancel a performance in West Lafayette, Indiana when she experienced shortness of breath and an accelerated heartbeat while her opening acts were on stage. After issuing an apology to her fans via Twitter, she rescheduled the show for January 26.
But now it looks like she’ll be doing more make-up dates, as she announced on Friday afternoon that she is taking a few days off to recover from exhaustion, based on the recommendation from her doctor. As a result, this weekend’s shows — Saturday, January 16 in Atlantic City and Sunday, January 17 in Wallingford, Connecticut — have been called off. And the show scheduled for this Monday, January 18 in Uncasville, Connecticut has been postponed (a makeup date will be announced soon).
In a statement from concert promoter Live Nation, ticket holders for this weekend’s shows will be fully refunded.
“I hope you can forgive me,” Gaga wrote on her Twitter after the cancellation of Thursday night’s show at the Elliott Hall of Music at Purdue University. “I love my little monsters more than anything, you are everything to me.”
Gaga’s wildly successful Monster Ball tour has taken her across the country and will move to Europe once her American dates are wrapped up. Following a trip through Europe, she’ll head to Australia. The 23-year-old singer still has a lot of travel and performing ahead of her, so we hope that she is able to recharge her batteries and stay healthy for the duration of 2010.
