MANHATTAN – No stranger to the bizarre, Christopher Walken will come to Broadway to play a man searching for his missing hand.
Walken, 66, will star in “A Behanding in Spokane” a black comedy opening on March 4 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater.
The show’s lead producer Robert Fox said Walken was offered the part without an audition, the Wall Street Journal reported. He was deemed apt for the part because he could pull off appearing truly handless.
“We’ve spent a great deal of time and energy getting that right,” Fox, referring to acting without appearing to have a hand, told the Journal. “He [Walken] kind of auditioned us.”
Anthony Mackie, Sam Rockwell and Zoe Kazan will also star in the play, directed by John Crowley.
“A Behanding in Spokane” is scheduled to run for 16 weeks, with previews beginning on Feb. 15.
