Town all set for Jackson tribute

An Aberdeenshire town is set to stage its own tribute to late superstar Michael Jackson with a mass Thriller dance.

The video for the classic 1980s track features Jackson and zombies.

Dozens of people in Huntly are to recreate the famous video as part of a festival on Sunday.

The zombified local residents have been preparing for the Huntly Hairst event with choreographers for many weeks to perfect their routine.

Thriller was directed by An American Werewolf in London film-maker John Landis. Its success helped Jackson’s album sell tens of millions of copies globally.

The video is regarded as an all-time classic, often topping polls of fans.

Jackson died earlier this year aged 50, leaving many fans devastated.

The Michael Jackson concert documentary This Is It earned $20.1m (£12.1m) at worldwide box offices in its first day.

The movie is based on rehearsal footage for the star’s ill-fated comeback shows.

Steve Elzer from Sony Pictures said the movie was a “reaffirmation of the global appeal of Michael Jackson”.
