Redmond O’Neal, the son of the late actress Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O’Neal, has been ordered by a US judge to go into drug rehab for at least a year.
The Los Angeles Superior court judge suspended a six-year prison sentence for O’Neal, saying he must go into residential care.
O’Neal, 24, pleaded guilty to possessing heroin while on bail in April for another drug charge.
He was in jail for Fawcett’s final days. She died of cancer on 26 June.
He was then released for a few hours to attend her funeral.
O’Neal will not have to serve time in prison if he completes the rehab treatment and three-years probation.
He has been in custody since his April arrest for bringing drugs into a jail north of Los Angeles.
He has previously been before the courts in Southern California for possession of methamphetmaine and heroin.

Drug addiction counseling is exactly what Redmond needs. I hope he will stay sober. It’s sad to see someone so young have such intense problems at that age.
Best of luck to him.
