George Clooney has injured his hand in a car accident. Or rather, a car door accident.
Clooney’s rep, Stan Rosenfield, tells People that the 49-year-old film star shut his hand in his car door outside his vacation home on Lake Como in Italy.
The statement was made after European media outlets began publishing reports that Clooney had broken his hand in a motorcycle accident while driving around Switzerland’s Lake Lugano. The real story, however, is far more mundane.
Though he was treated at the Ars Medico clinic across the Italian border in Switzerland, Rosenfield said, “The only reason he went to the hospital was to get a temporary cast put on.”
Clooney has, however, suffered more serious injuries behind the wheel in the past. Two years ago in New Jersey, Clooney and his former sweetheart Sarah Larson were riding on Clooney’s Harley Davidson when they crashed into a car. Larson limped away with a broken foot, while Clooney fractured one of his ribs.
Still, Clooney fans can breathe easy knowing that the “Oceans 11″ star is alive and well. “The doctor has given him 30-40 years more to live,” said Rosenfield, “and no live animals were harmed during the wrapping of the hand.”
