ust days after Chris Brown released a video apologizing for his February assault on girlfriend Rihanna, the pair were spotted spending a weekend in the same New York hotel. Though Brown is restricted from seeing the ‘Disturbia’ singer by a Los Angeles-issued retraining order, both stars checked into the Trump International Hotel & Tower on Friday, hotel sources told the NY Post.
Brown and Rihanna were not spotted together once during the two-day period, coming and going from the hotel in separate chauffeured vehicles. According to reports, the use of decoy vehicles were used to maintain the privacy of both stars.
Neither singer had an appearance or performance scheduled in the New York area over the weekend, though British paper the Daily Mail reported that Rihanna is shopping for a Manhattan apartment.
Brown pleaded guilty to one count of felony assault and will be sentenced Aug. 5. The judge in his case is expected to sign off on a plea bargain that will keep him out of jail, though he will likely be responsible for 1,400 hours of community service and ordered to undergo domestic-violence counseling. Brown is required to keep 50 yards away from Rihanna — or 10 yards if they’re at the same music-industry event. If Brown is found to have violated the order, even with Rihanna’s consent, he may be charged with a misdemeanor.
Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, said he was unaware of Brown’s activities over the weekend and added, “I don’t want to be quoted on something hypothetical.”
