Despite reports Tuesday to the contrary, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy are not engaged. This doesn’t mean that they won’t continue to babble on to the press about how in love they are and how glad they are that they unexpectedly found each other…it just means that for the next month or two, Hewitt will do her babbling sans engagement ring.

Yesterday it was reported that Kennedy had proposed to Hewitt while performing onstage at the Laugh Factory, but reps for the couple say it isn’t true. Said Jennifer Love Hewitt‘s rep, “There’s no truth to the report. There’s no truth to this report whatsoever.”

Not that Hewitt doesn’t have marriage on the brain. During a recent interview with 104.7 FM’s Johnjay and Rich Show in Arizona, the couple let on that they’d discussed tying the knot. When Kennedy asked Hewitt when she saw an engagement happening she said, “By this time next year, if we’re not planning something, then there’s a situation.” We’d be remiss not to warn Jennifer of how well that approach worked out for Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey’s relationship…

But we guess that it’s not surprising that Jennifer Love Hewitt has marriage on the brain considering her relationship with Jamie Kennedy began practically seconds after her engagement to her former fiance ended.

Kennedy addressed the engagement rumor by taking to his Twitter account. Tweeted Kennedy, “There’s a lil rumor going round that i got down on one knee in Long beach. If i was gonna get down on one knee do u think i wud do it in the LBC???? I mean i’m down with Snoop but L Beach dosent scream Romance. I luv my girl and wen it happens you’ll be the first to know.”
