Wheeeeee, publicity! With the sixth Harry Potter flick quickly approaching, stars Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe, one-half of the fearless duo are making use of their Ivy League-caliber smarts and working that Robert Pattinson angle into the ground to get tongues wagging and hearts palpitating for Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince. But their fixation on the sparkly fanged one isn’t totally arbitrary.
Pattinson had a tertiary role as Cedric Diggory in previous installments of the sorcerer series. But then Cedric Diggory died in Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire. Sad face. And then from his ashes rose Edward Cullen, who then went onto get hit by a speeding taxi. Sad face times two! But at least as Pattinson can draw strength from the unequivocal support from the wizards he left behind at Hogwarts as he copes with being the object of volatile teenage obsession.
Chimes Watson, “He’s just a good friend! Girls love him [but] we’re just friends — but he sure was great to work with. [Pattinson] is a super nice guy. I’m really happy for him that he’s gone on to be so über-successful. It’s really good.” Referring to Pattinson’s unenviable superstar status, Watson adds, “I hope he’s doing okay. It’s gotta be tough.” While Radcliffe, similarly humble, casts away all Equus-induced frenzy by bluntly saying, “Rob Pattinson is a sex symbol. Rob Pattinson is a genuine sexy guy. He’s got the height. If girls like short and nerdy, then I’m a sex symbol!”
Why, even Lord Voldemort can probably be heard through Potter’s frayed psyche, viciously hissing this Shakespearean sonnet in hopes of reaching RPatz: “O, though I love what others do abhor / With others thou shouldst not abhor my state: / If thy unworthiness raised love in me, / More worthy I to be beloved of thee.
