Let’s hope “like father, like son” doesn’t hold true for seventh season “American Idol” runner-up David Archuleta.
The singer’s father, Jeff Archuleta, was charged with soliciting a massage parlor prostitute, Fox13Now.com reports.
The 47-year-old father pleaded no contest and paid a $582 fine after the Jan. 14 bust at a Reiki massage parlor in Midvale, Utah.
“We observed the short stay traffic, we observed the minimal dress so we thought something was up, so then we went in force,” Midvale Police Sergeant John Salazar said.
At the time of the raid, six Midvale officers entered the parlor and found one male client receiving services.
Turns out, that client was Archuleta.
“His intent going into the massage parlor was to receive sexual gratification so we cited him for solicitation of prostitution,” Salazar said. “The male customer received sexual gratification at the hands of the masseuse.”
When asked about the alleged confession to Midvale Police, Archuleta’s attorney, Erik Bauer, said, “Oh, I don’t know what those police officers say, I mean, who knows what they say. He did not go there for sex and that was it and pure, plain and simple that’s the way it was.”
Court documents say Archuleta waived his right to counsel and entered a six month plea in abeyance.
“He [Archuleta] was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Bauer said. “He’s a good man and we hope this story won’t cause his family any embarrassment.”
