The always on the road Goodwill Ambassador, Angelina Jolie paid a visit to refugees from Burma (Myanmar) in a camp in Thailand on Wednesday (February 4). The Hollywood actress spoke to about what needs to be done, after her trip to Ban Mai Nai Soi camp, which currently houses 18,111 registered refugees. Famously known for using her celebrity status to drawn attention to the real problems around the world, Angelina Jolie is considering leaving Hollywood as an extended career could make her miss all those other things in her life as a “the happiest mommy,” but I don’t think she will drop the Goodwill Ambassador title and its responsibilities.
I was saddened to meet a 21-year-old woman who was born in a refugee camp, who has never even been out of the camp and is now raising her own child in a camp. With no foreseeable chance that these refugees will soon be able to return to Burma (Myanmar), we must find some way to help them work and become self reliant.
