Louis Vuitton creative director and fashion designer Marc Jacobs, takes fans behind the scenes of the making of the Louis Vuitton 2009 Spring/Summer ad campaign, starring the old enough to be a granny Madonna. What intrigues me the most is that Marc Jacobs said that he wanted the campaign to be “bold, very sensual and very atmospheric” and “to carry off all these references and all this sophistication”, they “needed the ultimate performer and for me, that is Madonna.” Say that again! “Ultimate performer!” Meaning a person who despite her age keeps making tours and surgeries to keep a cool appearance and have longevity in the music industry. I saw a few print ads and they seemed to me very bold rather than sensual and with sophistication. It’s true that Spring/Summer 09 Louis Vuitton ad campaign places Madonna in that place where time hasn’t passed her by for the past quarter century.

To strengthen up my arguments, I remember this one time when America’s New York Daily News newspaper reported, back in 2006, that Madonna was sparking health fears after looking skinny and exhausted by punishing exercise regime too far. The pop diva, at that time admitted she likes keeping in shape for Guy Ritchie. Ya right! It seems she was (and probable still is) following a fitness program of two to three hours a day of yoga and Pilates, plus swimming, weight training and cycling. Don’t get me wrong, I am not against keeping a healthy and nice shape, but when your bones start to show off.. is beyond my capacity of understanding.
