Trefethen Family Vineyard, a Napa Valley wine pioneer, celebrated its 40th anniversary on September 20th by hosting the “Eat, Drink and Be Merry” fundraising event to benefit Cancer Schmancer. Well-known Chefs, Vintners and Comedians came together for an afternoon of food, wine and fundraising for Cancer Schmancer, a leading healthcare advocate organization aimed to raise the national awareness on women’s healthcare and cancer prevention.

The highlight of the day was the Eat, Drink and Be Merry celebrity BMX bike races, where each group of chefs, vintners and comedians competed amongst each other. Racers featured Napa’s renowned chefs including Cindy Pawlcyn with Go Fish and Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen, Donna Scala with Bistro Don Giovanni and Ken Frank with La Toque plus famous winemakers K.R. Rombauer, Marcia Mondavi Borger, John Trefethen, Randy Lewis and Bruce Cakebread.

Todd Humphries with Martini House, Richard Reddington with Redd Napa Valley and Michael Chiarello, Emmy-winning Food Network personality and cookbook author also attended and joined Fran Drescher, President and visionary of Cancer Schmancer.

The event was open to the public and tickets were $225 per person. Guests had a chance to bid on auction lots featuring wines from the library of Trefethen as well as other vintners on-hand.

Based on her second New York Times best seller, Cancer Schmancer, Fran Drescher launched two charitable organizations, the Cancer Schmancer Foundation and the Cancer Schmancer Movement, both dedicated to ensuring that all women with cancer are diagnosed in Stage 1, when it most curable.
