According to recent reports, Heath Ledger Scholarship Fund was announced at the 2008 Australians in Film Breakthrough Awards in Beverly Hills Thursday night, 05 June. The fund has been set up in memory of Academy Award-nominated star Heath Ledger, who died in January at the age of twenty-eight, after accidentally overdosing on prescription drugs at his New York apartment. The Heath Ledger Scholarship is designed to “help struggling Aussie actors” succeed in the film industry and the first scholarship is due to be awarded in 2009.
