The Grammy-winning singer Shakira is one of those stars who are using their celebrity status in a positive and noble way by drawing attention to the real problems of the world. The pop sensation has recently hold a press conference on Capitol Hill to ask The United States Congress to appropriate billions of dollars for the Global Campaign for Education.
The 31-year-old singer Shakira – who is being supported by about 50 students selected from around the country – took to the Washington D.C. podium yesterday and said that the advocacy group is “pressing world leaders to provide funding for primary education for 72 million young children who now miss out on schooling as a result of poverty.”
