
Grammy Award winner and the United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF ambassador visits Bangladesh to see community projects and areas hit by last month’s devastating Cyclone Sidr. Shakira arrived there on Monday and she appealed to the world community to help rebuild schools in cyclone-devastated Bangladesh on Wednesday, in the same day she left under tight security. Shakira who was appointed a global goodwill ambassador for UNICEF in 2003, also visited UNICEF-sponsored education programs for children in northern Rajshahi city on Tuesday.
The world should give a helping hand to rebuild schools in Bangladesh. I rushed to Bangladesh when I came to know that some 3,000 schools were damaged in the cyclone. I will never forget the faces of mothers who lost their children and the children who lost their parents.
