Multiple MAXIM Hot 100 phenomenon Jessica Alba may be breaking the hearts of men world-wide by hanging up her bikini bottom photo shoots in favor of a more professional career - but a range of Hollywood film critics suggest actress may be a step, or two, ahead of herself. While the self-proclaimed “prude” insists the industry has type cast her as a sex-kitten against her will, the 26-year-old actress is doing all she can to impress her public audience with a new-found interest in a string of serious roles. And though film critics do not predict Oscar nominations, her latest gig just might change our opinions… maybe.

Based loosely on the struggles of every day experiences with death, ‘Sisters’ details the lives of three very different siblings struggling to unite following the sudden loss of their parents. But though Jessica Alba has become accustomed to glamorous leading lady roles, her part as Maria - the 24 year old middle sister - challenges to change the professional and public perceptions of the actress; calling for a “dull, almost ugly” personality.

But will the role change the direction of Jessica Alba’s commercial career?
Recently the actress has revealed her desire to “be taken more seriously” in the industry, however film critic Megan Dooval suggests the brunette will be taking a backseat to her co-stars, particularly 19-year-old Hollywood import Eliska Amor, who was hand-picked by Caruso in mid-2007 to play the role as 17-year-old youngest sister Vega. Along with 33-year-old Paz Vega (who was cast second for the film as 30-year-old older sister Ava), Dooval predicts some serious performance battles amongst Caruso’s cast - something that may leave Alba’s Oscar dreams in the dark.
