Savage Garden vocalist Darren Hayes has been arrested after on suspicion of racially abusing a member of staff at a Thai restaurant in London’s Soho district last month, on July 22. The incident did not involve physical violence but reportedly was a verbal attack from Hayes side on a member of staff. Darren Stanley Hayes, who’s currently touring around the world to promote his newest solo album, was questioned and arrested by police following claims and released on bail in the same day.
We can confirm that a 35-year-old man was arrested by Westminster police on suspicion of racially abusing a member of staff. He was arrested after voluntarily attending a Central London police station by appointment. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries until September 21.

Derren is deeply upset at the allegation, which he strenuously denies, and anyone who knows Darren will recognize that the particular nature of the allegation is totally abhorrent to him and contrary to everything for which he has stood.

I don’t believe that he would attack a person because of their race for a moment. The only thing I can see happening is he was forced in a heated conversation and he wasn’t using his brain and might have said a racial comment. But as for actually abusing, it is hard very to believe. He tries to stand for things that are against these kind of acts. If anything was said, I’m positive it was most likely an accident, and the waiter is taking advantage of it due to the fact he is a celebrity.
