According to contactmusic.com, pop Celebrity Britney Spears had a what turn up to be hit in her hands, but refused the chance to record the track Umbrella. The song was created by American music producer Tricky Stewart and initially was for Britney but end up for Rihanna and she made it a number one hit. In other “funny” Celebrity news, Jay-Z reportedly threatened to kill Rihanna by throwing her out of a 29th floor window unless she signed with Def Jam records. Rihanna said “the audition went well. They [Def Jam] locked me into the office – till 3am. And Jay-Z said, ‘There’s only two ways out. Out the door after you sign this deal. Or through this window…’ and we were on the 29th floor. Very flattering.”
I was working with Tricky in his studio the day he finished Umbrella. As soon as I heard it I said, ‘That is a smash, I have to have it,’ but he told me it was on hold for Britney. He waited but Britney’s people never called him back. Rihanna turned the song into a huge hit, holding the number one spot in the U.K. chart for a staggering 10 weeks.
