The Goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Angelina Jolie visited another poor and this time war-stricken area in the world Iraq and Syria. The Hollywood actress known for her using her celebrity status for raising awareness and offering humanitarian aid across the globe and now the Middle East was on her list. Angelina went into Iraq for a few hours today to see the suffering of hundreds of thousands of refugees families drawing attention to the life conditions. In other Celebrity news, Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie hosted a fundraiser for the victims of Hurricane Katrina in the Hamptons, N.Y., on Saturday. The charity event took place at home of Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff in Watermill. The fundraiser also promoted Pitt’s Make It Right project, which aims to rebuild New Orleans eco-friendly homes.
I have come to Syria and Iraq to help draw attention to the humanitarian crisis and to urge governments to increase their support for UNHCR and its partners. My sole purpose in both countries is to highlight the plight of those uprooted by the war in Iraq.
