Mr Blackwell’s fashion fiascoes this year are Pop Celebrity Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, both topping the list of the former designer’s annual worst dressed list today as “style-free and fashion deprived” and “two peas in an overexposed pod”. Britney and Paris were followed by Camilla Parker-Bowles, the wife of Britain’s Prince Charles, Lindsay Lohan – “tragically trapped in fashion’s fast lane”, Christina Aguilera (“all crass, no class”) and Mariah Carey as “queen of catastrophic kitsch” came in fourth and fifth.

Blackwell’s list has become a Hollywood tradition over the decades he urged the women on his 2006 list to be more like “fabulous fashion independents”: Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie, Helen Mirren, Barbra Streisand and Beyonce Knowles.
