According to the news, Hollywood Celebrity Couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have made a $100,000 donation to the Daniel Pearl Foundation through the recently formed Jolie-Pitt Foundation. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have created a new charitable foundation named Jolie/Pitt Foundation to aid humanitarian causes across the globe, families affected by HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty. The Hollywood actors arrived last week in Pune, India, to star in the biopic, A Mighty Heart. The film is follows the story of American Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl who was kidnapped and killed by British-born, Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, known as Sheikh Omar in Pakistan. Ahmed was sentenced to death in July 2002 in the southern city of Karachi earlier that year.
On this day our thoughts go out to Danny’s family. The Daniel Pearl Foundation is celebrating this day, his birthday, with music festivals around the world. The festivals are a great reminder of not just Danny’s work as a journalist but of his life and his love of music.
