According to contactmusic, R&B Celebrity Letoya Luckett – whose solo album debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 this summer – revealed that not only she was shocked but also devastated for leaving R&B group Destiny’s Child. It seems that she grew up with Destiny’s Child stars Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland and were best friends but at some point in her music career with the band, she and ex-group member Latavia Robertson were kicked out of the group for no reason.
While Letoya’s former best friends went on to conquer the music world, her career wasn’t going in the right direction as she had several false starts and disappointments. But now R&B Celebrity LeToya finally steps out from the shadows of Destiny’s Child with a major hit with the ballad “Torn” ( the song “She Don’t” is great also ) from her just released her self-titled debut album.
None of the girls called up after I left the group. What I missed most was the friendship Beyonce, Kelly and I had. We had met in elementary school so the hardest things were getting over birthday’s and Christmases without them. I did call Beyonce on the New Years Eve of the new millennium. I told her I missed her, I loved her and that it was a hard time. She called me three days later and told me things were over with the group and they were all going solo. But then there was another Destiny’s Child album after that so I don’t know what happened.

If you (Letoya) left the group why didn’t you explain the reasons and why did you want to go back? If I leave a place because I don’t feel comfortable, I will look for something better. If I were Bee I would have told you directly that I don’t want to work with you anymore. We make choice in life and we have to assume them. Anyways, I love your music and I believe that you’re talented. Bee and you could not make it together because I think you’re a leader too. And for a group to success, the need to be one and only one leader. Don’t give up, keep working hard and you’ll go through. You’re TALENTED, beautiful and creative. Good luck Letoya. latoya, u cud have bn big if ur stayed with the group til the last moment. u have a gr8 song lyk “torn” bt look at u now, wats next caz u are quiet now. 4 u 2 b big like kelly n bee, i think u shud have just begged them 2 stay if u were kicked out of the group for no good reason. the girls had good producers and they were already known the moment the group split out n it became easy 4 them when they became solo. nyway, i love ur music n i love u too caz did your part in dc4. good luck on ur music girl. u rock>>>>>.
despite the fact that letoya is currently doing well in her solo career, she would have been more popular if she had stayed with destiny’s child till the end. letoya should try and be the best in her career because it is obvious she is talented and her voice is crazy and sexy like that of b and kelly
spear why should letoya have begged to stay in the group? she probably would have been a bigger star but she would not have as much input in the group because of Matthew Knowes…so i don’t believe begging is the answer.besides everything worked out, and Michelle was given an opportunity that she otherwise may not have had.
LeToya da s#!t, she workin on sophomore effort, she has hot tracks plus her buzz single “Swagger”, she jus finished doing her play Rumors w/ good professional reviews on her first official actin gig, slayin. LeToya’s set wen she releases her first official single… Tho there could b potientally a bad album in the making but her debut was a good start, most people found it better than B’s & Kelly’s, I think it is 4 the most part & so will her 2nd.
I know that was some hard shit for Tavia and Toya 2 deal with. But they have to keep in mind that they r still Destinys Child. it just wasnt their destiny to fufill with them. Beyonce may have gone on to bigger and better things. But so did u 2. Beyonce would have still been beyonce whether she was with DC or not. i just wish she was solo from the start. She didnt have to use u guys to make her look good. That in itself was selfish and spiteful on her parents behalf. If u knew u only cared for your daughters success y did u need the other girls? Kelly included. But all of u r strong black women who AI come to admire. Except beyonce. shes to shallow for m blood. Her parents have truly fulled her head.
