According to the news, Gillette is to drop David Beckham as the brand ambassador in favor of other global sporting superstars. Apparently Gillette is looking for fresh global sports icons to represent the brand, but Gillette may continue to using David in some local markets. Lets not forget that Beckham’ deal with Gillette comes up for renewal next year. The football ace is the face of the brand since 2004, when he signed a three-year, Ă‚Ł40m agreement.
However, though Gillette might drop him while Vodafone also ditch him, according to exclusive research commissioned by Marketing, David Beckham remains the world’s most sponsored footballer ad. The celebrity is a brand ambassador for several other global brands, including Motorola, Adidas and Pepsi. This is not the end, only the beginning for David Beckham. He is far from being out of the picture.
