Beyonce Knowles makes records for black people?

Beyonce in Blender

Surprised? According to some reports R&B Celebrity Beyonce Knowles has sparked controversy by saying she only makes records for black people. Beyonce said in an interview with Blender magazine: “I make black records. I write records like I speak, and I don’t try to change my songs so everyone else likes them.” Reports say that since the statement, the sales of her new album, ‘B’Day’, have fallen by 70 per cent in the US.

Blender Magazine reports in their new issue that Beyonce still doubts herself saying R&B Celebrity has a secret – an alter ego – for her performances: Sasha. It seems that when Beyonce feel uncomfortable about something, she tell herself, ‘I’m Sasha, I’m a diva, I’m fierce, I can do it.’ Apparently Sasha protects her a lot and it’s the perfect way to keep sane.

In other Celebrity news, Beyonce received at the MOBO awards in London, the Best Song and Best Video categories and she was named Best International Female at the ceremony – which recognizes music of black origin.

Recently Beyonce performed at pal Giorgio Armani show taking to the stage before the designer’s catwalk show of the London Fashion Week. The Italian designer then unveiled his new Product Red Collection which will raise cash to fight Aids.

I don’t even like Beyonce, but her quote is taken out of context and that’s not fair. She makes “black music”.

No where does she say I make music for black people – what the hell is wrong with people?

I hate to defend her but more than that I hate racist people trying to make other people sound racist, too.

  2. lizy says:

Unlike you I love her music and I don’t think the article is racist or the people who wrote it.

  3. anonymous says:

I think she looks and sings dangerously good AND her black records are what every fan expects to hear from her. its what she is perfect at.

  4. crabman says:

she’s just trying to say she’s not a sellout, good for her! and she’s hot, so whatever she does is fine by me :)

  5. RastaJay says:

People always mis quote so they can get a rise out of people. Why would she say something so off?? She knows that would set her fans off??? its rediculous

  6. anonymous says:

I would proudly say the same thing if I was a black person. There is nothing wrong with that!

This article could be taken out of context. Beyonce started off in a group and singing since she was 9 years old. As she got older the producers are Black artist and the music is played by black artist. Just like coldplay, for example and most of america’s rock bands they play music for the white audiences. I feel that Beyonce can sign all kinds of music , she is a performer so hey write produce and have a asian ban behind her she will sing and perform infront of any audiences from all over the world.

She’s making a wrong move there and I think something must have upset her to say that because with the adoption of R&B in middle class white areas it’s a career ending move, effectively.

It’d be interesting to see just how hard line her politics are regarding such influences as the Black Nation of Islam. I must say that with her comments, which can by virture of being pro-black certainly considered anti-other cultures it’s in a way worrying for the politicial/social balance of the U.S. to see celebrities such as Ice Cube moving toward black nationalism. I don’t mean to be offensive but it is a double standard, if a white singer stated that they only made music for white people they would be shunned and put out of the mainstream without another thought, they’d be in the same category as Max Resist, Prussian Blue and other white nationalist bands.

As celebrities become politically hard-line and are inciting racial tensions without being removed from the mainstream for the sake of security over music there followers will adopt these dangerous politics and it is a bomb waiting to explode.

  9. Shocked says:

i agree it is a doube standard nowadays. Basically, she is saying she doesn’t want white people to buy her records so why should we? I mean Ice Cube went round saying that all white people should be shot and making fun of white men that have got killed by black nationalists and we stupid ‘honkeys’ still went and put money in his pockets. I for one won’t be doing that again. I was planning on seeing beyonce in concert. I will cancel that plan and i urge all other self-respecting white people to do the same. The fact is we can live without her but can she live without us putting money in her pockets? I think not! I for one cannot wait until a day when good musicians (ie nirvana, guns n roses, britney spears ;-D) once again rule the charts. I hope that day is not far away.

  10. josie says:

she didnt mean it in that way

  11. chloe says:

i dont think she meant it in a way that no i dont want anybody listening to my music but black people she’s saying she doesnt change her music to fit any genre or group she’s black so in her lyrics she speaks like a black person therefore its black music

  12. John says:

Lol, guys, can someone READ HER QUOTE PLEASE!

    Beyonce says,

    “I make black records.”

Black records? Hmmmm, what do you mean by this Beyonce?

“I write records like I speak, and I don’t try to change my songs so everyone else likes them.”

Okay! Never at any point did this chick say she writes music for black people. She said she writes BLACK RECORDS, and since we as black people make up many sayings that MEAN other things, like “tight” is good and “hard” is good….what Beyonce is saying is that she makes “black records,” meaning she makes records from her soul, she’s being herself, and she’s not “trying to be anybody else” on stage or on an album.

The same idiot starting these rumors and taking this totally out of context, is probably the same idiot who said Ciara used to have a penis. Well, lol, I guess that if I was a journalist and had to make a commission, I would spend time making up shyt as well.

Peace! (And no, when I say “Peace” I mean good-bye, I don’t mean I need Peace lol)

  15. Secret says:
