The pop celebrity Pink has dropped out of a race to play Janis Joplin in a new film, describing the casting as a “circus”, according to TeenHollywood.com. Female celebrities like Pink, Lindsay Lohan, Zooey Deschanel, Scarlett Johansson and Britney Spears were reportedly battling it out for the coveted role of Janis Joplin in a new biopic. The movie, titled The Gospel According To Janis, will chronicle the life of the 1960s blues singer, who was known for her outrageous performances.
The film would start shooting in September and director Penelope Spheeris named the pop celebrity Pink the first choice for the role in The Gospel According To Janis.
They’re trying to turn it into some circus pop contest – who’s the ‘it’ girl who wants to play Janis? Janis was so much deeper than that.

well its sad to know that pink has droped out….but hopefuly shell go back. but i also agree with pink Janis was much more then this…the music when she would sing you could feel her pain she put all her heart and soul to every song….thats what made her a great singer
I think that Pink is the best choice for the film because she has talent and she resembles Janis… Britney Spears can’t have a role in this film!!!
