The greatest cyclists ever Lance Armstrong told the Associated Press that he plans to run in the Nov. 5 New York City Marathon – his first-ever marathon. Although Armstrong have retired from cycling after winning his seventh straight Tour de France last year, he wants to remain in a competing world.
Armstrong is now part owner of the Discovery Channel team, and monitored the riders’ progress by car alongside team manager Johan Bruyneel. In other celebrity news, Lance Armstrong and Sheryl Crow are officially split and of course the wedding is off.
It’s just something to fill a void in my life after I quit competing as a professional cyclist.

Lance Armstrong? The greatest cyclist ever? Not even close. Not even the greatest tour rider ever. Arguably not even in the top 3. Before making such statements, you should go and ride the history of riders like Eddy Merckx, Fausto Coppi, Antoin Magni. Armstrong raced one event a year for the last seven years period. These riders raced (and won) all year long. Mercxk won his 5 tours while also winning 5 Giro d’Talia and 2 Vuelta Espana, not to mention numerous one day classics and world championships. Likewise for Coppi who’s career was interrupted by World War 2 while Magni was regularly paid by race organisers to not show up because he was so dominant.
