It seems but Scientology doctrine teaches followers of the sci-fi cult to avoid taking newborn babies out unless absolutely necessary. Because Tom Cruise is such a devout follower of the bizarre faith, founded by science-fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard, before Suri was born, it was claimed that Katie would have to give birth in silence. Scientologists believe babies should enter the world without any outside noise to stop them from being mentally scarred by the delivery. The signs were for the doctors and nurses. I'm a Scientologist and when I had my babies we had signs, too - taped to the outside of the door, by the nurses, to remind people entering the room to abide by my wishes and keep quiet. The understandable and slow movements is nothing I have read in Scientology, but is something LeBoyer recommended. You need to take what the media dishes out with a grain of salt. By the way - Scientologist can give birth any way they please, but many Scientologist MOTHERS insist that silence be attempted during labor and birth -- but it's up to US. (We make as much noise as we need during labor and birth, but do ask that the nurses and doctors refrain from chitchatting about the weather and their plans for the weekend while we are in such agony! I’m a Scientologist and when I had my babies we had signs, too – taped to the outside of the door, by the nurses, to remind people entering the room to abide by my wishes and keep quiet.

The understandable and slow movements is nothing I have read in Scientology, but is something LeBoyer recommended.
