Brokeback Mountain will lead this year’s list of Academy Award with eight nominations, including those for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor Heath Ledger and supporting players Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Williams. The 78th annual Academy Awards will be broadcast live on ABC from Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre on Sunday, March 5. Three films with six nominations are Crash, Good Night, and Good Luck and Memoirs of a Geisha, though Geisha was shut out in the top categories. Besides Ledger, Phoenix and Capote star Philip Seymour Hoffman, Terrence Howard scored a Best Actor nomination while for Best Actress, the race is considered to be heaviest between Witherspoon in Cash, and Huffman in Transamerica.

The Oscars won’t be as good as last year if you ask me but with host John Sttewart Chris Rock will almost be matched. I think for Best Bicture it’s going to be Brokeback Mountain or perhaps Crash with an outside chance for Munich. Joaquin Phoenix wins for best actor with Heath Ledger close behind.
