According to the annual Yahoo! “Buzz Index” poll, Britney Spears toped the list, earning status as the No. 1-most-searched name on the Internet. The pop singer beat celebrities like Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Mariah Carey, Eminem or Lindsay Lohan.
This is not the first time when Britney is on top. In four years the pop celebrity has earned the title for three times, because last year, Britney Spears came on the second place, behind American Idol.

The Top 10 names on this year’s “Buzz Index” are:

4. Mariah Carey

Meanwhile, Britney Spears reportedly hired Madonna’s writers and producers after being impressed with the sound of Madonna’s new album Confessions On a Dancefloor. It seems Britney is desperate to reinvent her pop career and to re-brand herself as a more sophisticated pop singer for the new year.

In other list, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has named Paris Hilton the worst-dressed celebrity of the year, for her fur fashions, being followed by her friend Kimberly Stewart, Lisa Gastineau, Victoria Gotti and Tara Reid.
