Lindsay Lohan decided her second tattoo should be a tribute to her late Italian grandfather. So Lindsay consulted with her grandmother about her latest tattoo. Why? The teen acress decided to get ‘la vita bella’ (life is beautiful) engraved on her lower back and wasn’t sure of the correct spelling.
Lindsay’s ‘la vita e bella’ tatoo reminds me of one of Roberto Benigni’s unique Italian film. The three Oscars movie – La vita e bella – despite the dramatic change of setting, the romantic comedy is about devotion, family and relationships.
Anyway, Lohan tattoos plans doesn’t stop here. She intents to have the word ‘breathe’ tattooed on her forearm, to commemorate her role in upcoming John Lennon movie Chapter 27.
I was on the phone with my grandmother when I got it because she’s Italian and I wasn’t sure. People were telling me all different ways to say it and I said, `Well, I don’t (want to) have the wrong meaning on my back tattooed for life. I was eating ice-cream when I got this one. I was shocked that it didn’t hurt.

[...] Lindsay Lohan ‘la vita e bella’ tattoo [...]
lindsay lohan rocks! “la bella vita” is also in the song A Beautiful Life (LA BELLA VITA) which is really cool! anyways…does anyone know what that red symbol on her back is? (it’s on the cover of “A Little More Personal”)
Hi, I’m from Italy and I have to corridge you about the meaning of Lindsay’s tattoo “La bella vita”. She wanted a tattoo that means “Life is beautiful”, but in italian it’s “La vita Ă© bella”, not “La bella vita”! This in fact has a totally different meaning: la “bella vita” is the rich people lifestyle, we say that about a person that lives spending a lot of money, always having parties, taking parts at galas, buying new dresses, having lots of houses, boats and so on. We say “Fa la bella vita” (He/She do the “bella vita”) or “Nuota nel’oro/nello champagne” (He/She swims into the money/into the champagne) Do you understand?
So, I think she has made a mistake…next time, tell her to consult an italian vocabulary or an italian website!
Lindsay does in fact live the rich people lifestyle, so either way it suits her. It’s on her back for the rest of her life, not yours.
I agree with Kayla, whoever she is, I think that the fact Lindsay wanted to honour her Italian Grandfather is sweet, and her decision, she has every right to have it, and the rich people lifestyle suits her too, its her body and her choice. LINDSAY ROCKS! leave it at that. Everyone where i come from believes La Bella Vita means Life is Beauitful. and I intend to get almost the same tattoo to honour the italian side of my family.
yeah…okay you people….whats up with this site???? why are you making fun of Lindsay for getting a tatto???? it says La balla vita on her back. okay. which means *la balla vita* in french. *my beautiful life* i LOVE that song!!!!! it’s awsome!! LINDSAY LOHAN IS AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROCK ON LINDSAY!!!!!! =)
hell with these unsatisfied Lindsay Lohan freaks….people make WAY TO MUCH FUN OF LINDSAY FOR NO FREAKING REASON. even if it’s all true…then why dont you get a clue………………………………………………….
