50 Cent confessed that playing in his biographical movie “Get Reach Or Die Tryin’”, which was release on November 9, helped him treating his trauma, all thanks to his shooting and the operation scenes. Although in the movie, 50 made reference to his own feelings the rapper declared that, because he actually lived that incident in the real life, it was much easier for him to give authenticity to his character.
I think it might be helping me in this role. If you had to research what it would feel like to experience anything like that, you have to just imagine what it would be like. Whereas I have a reference to it in my head. I can get there a little easier than someone who hasn’t been through it.
People think that because you’re playing a character that’s based on you, you don’t actually have to act. That’s not true. You have some advantages because you can make reference to your own feelings.
But the disadvantage is that you have to snap out of those feelings and move on to the next scene. We were doing the operating room scene, and the next scene we shot was damn near comedy. You know, I got to be able to get back into that mood so I can do that.
