Colombian singer Shakira refuses to allow herself and fiance Antonio De La Rua – the son of Argentina’s former president Fernando De La Rua- to be referred to as the Latin Beckhams, despite their high profile relationship.
The star has been romancing the 26-year-old lawyer since 1998, and their partnership has been under close media scrutiny from the very start.

We have had enormous attention from the press. It was somehow controversial that the son of a president was dating a celebrity. Therefore he too would become a celebrity; as if it was too glamorous for a son of a president.
