Lil’Kim one year in jail

Lil’ Kim was sentenced yesterday in Manhattan’s federal district court. Rapper Lil’ Kim, whose real name is Kimberley Jones, will serve 12 months in prison for lying to a grand jury investigating two of her friends involved in a 2001 shooting outside a Manhattan radio station.

Rapper LIL’ KIM can enjoy her summer as a free woman after being given a September (05) deadline to turn herself in to authorities. She has also been ordered to pay a $50,000 fine and will face a further three years on probation, once her jail time is served.

Before her sentencing, Lil’ Kim made a plea for leniency, admitting she had done wrong.

I testified falsely to the grand jury and during the trial. At the time I thought it was the right thing to do. Now I know it was wrong.
- she said in court -

While many rappers have served time in prison, Lil’ Kim is the first big-name female to do so.
