Russell Crowe, in New York City to promote his latest film, Cinderella Man, was taken to a police station were he was charged with second-degree assault – which carries a sentence of up to a year in prison – after Crowe throw the telephone at a hotel employee ( Mercer Street Hotel, at about 4am Monday), because he became upset attempting to place a telephone call to Australia.
The employee suffered minor lacerations, and was treated at St.Vincent’s Hospital.
Russell Crowe has had a previous history of incidents. In 2002, was abusive to a producer at the Batta Awards, and was involved in a brawl with a New Zealand businessman in a London restaurant, in the same year.
